Here is my revamped website.

This is a log of a journey, a life’s journey. Traveler, nomad, wandering, restless mind, seeking qualities and esthetics in life, are probably good and bad reasons why I quit a classic career track and am now on a long haul trajectory moving into projects involving traveling, photography, research, exhibitions, publishing, consultancy and collaborations with even much more creative minds.

The caravanserai has been an infrastructure that facilitated exchanges and multicultural relations for centuries between regions, their people and cultures between East and West through Middle East and Central Asia. At the same time it is a metaphor. To everybody, welcome to join. From this point of departure, what comes next ...

The pages under Caravanserai contain material about the caravanserais, khans and funduks in the Middle East and Central Asia. I am especially interested in photo and documentary text material. There are a number of bright minds working on academic research and data repositories. There is further need to elaborate research. We seek more opportunities for collaboration and for funding in order to extend the understanding of this part of the collective, but fading memory of the Muslim world. Any ideas ? Let us know.

At the same time and therefore, I continue to be very much interested in linking up with current international affairs in Middle East, West and East. Under Sources there is a list of books, articles or other references that have prickled (or tricked) my mind. I wish to expand it into a repository database of tagged articles by use of del.icio.us, digg it or alike. (to be set up).

The caravanserai as a metaphorical image is covered in an Essay. I will want to continue seeking that linking up between past and present in view of international exchanges and multicultural relations.

I know, it is a bit clumsy, but Apple’s blog function is elementary. I am looking for setting it up in another blogosphere.

Projects page groups the projects that I am currently working on. After a first stage of gathering material and the first exhibitions in Portland, OR, USA, I am currently traveling in the Middle East again and gathering material for a second stage of the caravanserai project.  Meanwhile, I am further working on other collaborations.

If need be Globe&Seas is the company vehicle that is available to cover these projects. Finally, there is a profile in About Tom.
